The making
Having only basic knowledge of the software, Final Cut Pro has benefited me through the post-production process. I was able to not only explore the numerous aesthetics, effects, transitions, typography, etc. but also combine these components together to build the flow of my video's thread.
The beginning
I wanted the beginning of the video to have a vacillating presence to entice the audience's attention. So I thought of having the sound effect of a radio tuning in accompanied with a static ambiance of a 1990's TV.
Then, I started off with a snippet of Beth's interview and the reason for choosing this specific interview is because of Beth's comedic outburst after hearing the first question.
1st quarter
As soon in the screenshot above, there is a typography overlayed on the video. Interestingly, at first, I did not know how to continue from then, however, thanks to Sam, he chimed in and gave a suggestion. He recommends to have the text overlay on a blank screen for a good 2 secs then cut to different snippets from the interviews.
For each question, I decided to have it simply layed out on the screen to prevent the audience's attention from being diverted and for them to be focused on the question itself. Additionally, I chose the font 'Bodoni 72 Oldstyle' to add to the basic theme. Initially, a 3D text was an option but I changed it to 2D to add to its coherence.
The music
My very good friend Dawn helped pick out the music for the video. Because she is into lofi/ chill music, her findings suited the theme of my video. The song is by Rook1e on SoundCloud. His songs are very relaxing and would definitely recommend listening to them. Due to copyright issue, I made sure to have permission to use his song
The ending
I wanted to end the video on a positive note and to achieve this the last question was about any pieces of advice the interviewees could give the viewers on love as well as leaving a heartwarming message at the end.
The next and final post will be the finished product. Thank you for viewing my portfolio and hope you enjoy the video! ☺
